Last month, an asset mapping training was held in Jerome by Juan Sepulveda and Teresa Niño of The Common Enterprise. What Is Asset Mapping? Asset mapping is a fun and useful approach to learning about your community. It helps you to think positively about the place in which you live and work. It also challenges you to recognize how other people see and experience the same community.

An asset map is an inventory of the strengths and gifts of the people who make up a community. Asset mapping reveals the assets of the entire community and highlights the interconnections among them, which in turn reveals how to access those assets.

"If you give me a fish, you have fed me for a day. If you teach me to fish, then you have fed me until the river is contaminated or the shoreline seized for development. But if you teach me to organize, then whatever the challenge, I can join together with my peers and we will fashion our own solution."
